Troubleshooting guide

What to record when a machine keeps stopping

Useful observations help turn an intermittent production problem into a focused investigation.

01

Capture the operating conditions

Record the product format, operating speed, station and time of the event. Note whether the stop happens at startup, after a changeover, during steady production or when another machine stops.

02

Keep the fault message and the symptom

The displayed alarm and the physical event may describe different parts of the same problem. Capture the exact message and a clear description of what happened without changing the equipment’s approved operating or safety procedures.

03

Record recent changes

Product batches, settings, component replacements, software changes and maintenance can all be relevant. A short timeline helps establish what was different before the problem appeared.

04

Define the verification

After a change, agree what will demonstrate improvement: the product range, production conditions and observation period. Record both improvements and remaining failures so that the next decision is based on evidence.

Use this guide to prepare a project conversation. Equipment-specific instructions and site procedures should be established with the responsible technical team.
